The Newstalk 106-108 FM Student Enterprise Competition is designed to foster a spirit of enterprise in students attending the Institutes of Technology throughout Ireland. The competition uses a case study format, allowing teams of participants to research real-life companies and gives students an opportunity to learn about real-life business challenges and solutions.
Over 1000 students from 16 colleges entered the competition last year with the winning team coming from Sligo IT. Hence the semi-finals and the finals of the competition will be held on campus next February.
Open to all faculties, each team must comprise of 3 or 4, full-time undergraduate students. Cross faculty teams are encouraged as members from varying backgrounds can bring a diversity of skills to the table.
The winning team receives a fantastic prize - an all expenses paid business trip to Denis O'Brien's mobile telecommunications operator Digicel Group whose offices are based in the Caribbean.
